ProLiteracy online resources: How can I help immigrants prepare to take the U.S. citizenship test?

ProLiteracy produced a collection of teaching and learning materials for ESL learners eligible to apply to become citizens and take the naturalization test. These materials are available for FREE on Thinkfinity Literacy Network, part of the consortium of sites on Verizon Thinkfinity.org. The collection includes online, self-paced courses for instructors, print materials, lessons, podcasts, and online student practice interactives. This chat room meets the second Monday of each month, from noon to 2pm, to discuss issues surrounding literacy program administration.

To enter the chatroom, login to your account (make one if you have not already) and click on the "Launch" button to open the conference room. This will open a pop-up window. If your browser blocks pop-ups, you will have to allow them.

When the pop-up window opens, click on "Group Chats" in the lower right corner to get the list of rooms available. Click on the "Get Rooms" button, select Literacy Lunch from the list, and click on "Enter." Some libraries are using a version of Internet Explorer that blocks entry into the rooms. If nothing happens when you click on the Enter button, switching to Firefox corrects the problem. If you encounter this problem and your IT department does not allow Firefox, let me know so I can work on another solution.
